Rare French Art Deco Bronze Canine Award Medal by Richard Fath (1900–1952) — "Special Terrier, Paris"

An exceptional, authentic French Art Deco bronze prize medal designed by the legendary French animalier sculptor Richard Fath. Fath is widely regarded as one of the finest 20th-century artists dedicated to the depiction of dogs, and his signed medals are highly sought after worldwide.

Design Details:

• Obverse: Features a striking, high-relief portrait of a Wire-haired Terrier (Wire Fox or Airedale) set within a bold, geometric Art Deco cutout field. Crisp, vertical incised signature FATH along the lower-left inner rim.

• Reverse: Features a central prize medallion surrounded by an elegant, deeply struck wreath of oak leaves and laurel/palm branches, complete with a blank lower cartouche. Struck with the award inscription: SPECIAL TERRIER / — / PARIS / — / 2ME PRIX .

• Edge: Smooth edge, cleanly stamped BRONZE alongside a triangular private mint hallmark, denoting a premium strike by a renowned Parisian workshop, attributed to Arthus-Bertrand
