Item Description

Commemorating the Battle of Friedland (June 14, 1807) This is a stunning bronze commemorative medal issued by the French Mint (Monnaie de Paris). It celebrates Napoleon’s decisive victory over the Russian Empire, which led to the Treaty of Tilsit.

Design Details:

  • Obverse: Features a laureate profile of Napoleon Bonaparte, styled as a Roman Emperor. Signed "ANDRIEU F." below the truncation. Inscription: NAPOLEON EMP. ET ROI.

  • Reverse: Depicts a heroic nude figure (Napoleon as Mars) sheathing a sword, surrounded by symbols of peace and victory including an olive tree. Signed "GALLE F." Inscription: BATAILLE DE FRIEDLAND XIV JUIN MDCCCVII.

Authenticity & Condition:

  • Edge Markings: This piece is an official "Cornucopia" restrike. The edge is clearly stamped with the word "BRONZE" and the cornucopia mint mark, signifying it was struck by the Paris Mint after 1880 using the original dies.
