Diocletian AE Follis – Historic First Issue of the London Mint (RIC 1a)
An exceptional, highly choice bronze follis (nummus) of Emperor Diocletian. This specimen represents the incredibly historic first issue struck at the London mint following the Roman reconquest of Britain by Constantius Chlorus in AD 296, bringing the province back into the fold of the Central Empire.
Crucially, this is the coveted RIC VI London 1a variant featuring the distinct, compact LON. This is a vital type coin for any serious collector of the Romano-British series.
