        Visual Characteristics

        • Obverse (Front): Head of Athena facing right. She wears a crested Attic helmet, which historically featured a small star on the side (now obscured by patina).

        • Reverse (Back): An owl standing facing with wings spread (displayed).

          • The owl stands upon a palm branch.

          • The invisible/worn legend reads: ΑΘΗΝΑΣ ΝΙΚΗΦΟΡΟΥ (Of Athena, Bringer of Victory).

          • Traces of a monogram are often located in the fields to the left or right.
